Norwegian Forest Cats

About Us

Hi, my name is Angie Auger and I was born in Chester, Cheshire in 1966. My partner for the past 21 years, Richard Auger, was born in Basildon, Essex in 1968. We were married in December 1987 at a small church in Ashingdon, Essex which was built during the reign of King Knut in 1030. At this time we both lived in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, and our main hobby was riding motorbikes - we belonged to a bike club called the Silver Knights.

In 1989 we moved to Shrewsbury in Shropshire and here our 4 children were born - Katie was born in 1990, Thomas in 1992 and twin boys David and Nathan in 1995. Shrewsbury is a very beautiful market town in the middle of Shropshire, situated close to the border of Mid-Wales. Here are 3 interesting facts about Shrewsbury:-

At the end of June 1998 we left the UK and moved to a small village called La Croix sur Lutry in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Lutry is situated 10 minutes from the city of Lausanne and 45 minutes away from Geneva. We had fantastic views of the Alps at Evian, France and of Lake Geneva from the patio of our house. The children attended local Swiss schools and soon became fluent in French. Here our passion for Norwegian Forest cats was born and we soon started taking part in shows all over Europe. We made many friends in the cat show world, some of whom deserve a special mention - Sandro and Isabel Chivuzzo (of Knickerbockers/du Bocherex), Nelly Brosselard (Blue Tanis) and Christine Allaman (d’Haakona). Many other Swiss breeders were also extremely helpful and gave us some great advice over the years - I would just like to extend my particular thanks to Sarah Runzis (av Skara Brae), who came to our aide in a time of great trouble and grief.

Due to Richard’s job relocation we moved to Melbourne, Australia in December 2006. We have bought a new home in Berwick, a very old town situated 40 kms south east of Melbourne, and have settled into our new life here very well. We have brought our passion for Norwegian Forest cats with us and imported a number of our cats into Australia where we hope to continue showing these wonderful animals.
